Set on King’s Road, Ixchel brings a considered expression of modern Mexican dining to Chelsea. Named after the Mayan goddess of the moon, Ixchel is a celebration of Mexico’s rich culinary heritage that showcases the depth and diversity of the country’s cuisine and culture, interpreted through the lens of Head Chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez (formerly BRAT, Dulce Patria)
The interiors are rich in terracotta hues and contemporary Mexican artwork with the warmth of the space carrying through to the menu. Chef Ximena’s cooking is shaped by regional dishes and traditional techniques and the menu unfolds in waves, beginning with small plates, followed by tacos, tostadas and larger plates to share. From smoky adobo short rib with pineapple and tortillas fresh from the comal to aged-bone in ribeye with rich and layered chilmole, the menu encourages the discovery of Mexican flavours lesser known in London.
Alongside the main dining room, a hidden tequila bar and chef’s table sit downstairs, offering a more intimate setting suited to celebrations, exclusive dinners and bespoke events. From the vibrant interiors and stellar selection of artisanal tequilas and mezcals to seasonal Mexican cuisine interpreted through Chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez’s lens, dining at Ixchel is a feast for the senses.
At Taste of London, the team will bring an offering that takes guests through Mexico’s culinary regions, showcasing the breadth and regionality of authentic Mexican cuisine. Guests can expect to see hero dishes from the restaurant alongside a selection of tacos that capture the bold flavours, techniques and traditions that define Ixchel’s kitchen.
