Smoke & Salt is a restaurant that celebrates the ethos of “modern dining, ancient techniques”, based in a 40ft shipping container within Pop Brixton, however the food is certainly out of the box. Smoke & Salt’s cuisine is an awesome reflection, representation and re-imagination of the modern dining scene in London, bridging cultures and traditions. With food flavours that are influenced by global eating, they refuse to call ourselves fusion, instead, honing the magic of ancient techniques such as smoking, curing and preserving.
Born out of a chance encounter back in 2014, Smoke & Salt started life as a casual fine-dining supper-club during the height of London’s pop-up craze, developing tasting menus and flavour combinations to intrigue, yet warm the hearts of its growing following. In this way, Smoke & Salt try to reflect the diversity and multiculturality of South London and the UK through their food and eclectic cocktail menu. Particularly close to their hearts are dishes such as beef heart with new potatoes, chimichurri and gorgonzola or the more fiery lamb merguez with flatbreads, fermented harissa and labneh. Wash these down with a Boston Sour (a twist on a classic, but using sorrel, rye whiskey and a lemon syrup) and you’ll really get to know what a true Smoke & Salt experience can be.
