Opened in July 2015, Oldroyd restaurant is a relaxed 40-cover neighbourhood restaurant located on Islington’s busy Upper Street, just a few minutes’ walk from Angel tube station. Split across two floors, the restaurant offers a café-style vibe downstairs and a bistro-style first floor dining room; with a focus on locally sourced and seasonal British produce.
Tom’s menu at Oldroyd reflects his 15 years’ experience working in restaurants as well as his travels through the food markets of Europe and the USA. The daily changing menu features a mixture of small and large plates that champion seasonal British cooking and are perfect for sharing. Expect to tuck into the likes of Roast cod with black olive crumb, brussel tops, Romanesco and anchovy, or Middle white pork chop with lentils, grilled radicchio and salsa verde, washed down with an Oldroyd Kir Royale.
During the week an excellent value Set Lunch menu is served, featuring highlights from the daily dinner menu, as well as a weekend brunch menu from 11am on Sundays.
To complement the carefully selected wine list, Tom paired up with award-winning mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana to create a bespoke cocktail list unique to Oldroyd. Standout cocktails include a take on the classic Negroni (Tom’s favourite cocktail) and the Oldroyd Bloody Meryl.
Before opening Oldroyd, Tom was Chef Director at the Polpo restaurant group, where he worked developing the menus for the group’s nine sites alongside Russell Norman.He is joined at Oldroyd by Head Chef Louis Lingwood, who hails from the acclaimed St. John Bread & Wine in Shoreditch.
