Jay Morjaria, Chef at JAE

Born into the hospitality and produce industry and hailing from London, Jay Morjaria cooks his unique multi heritage and East Asian inspired food at pop ups around the UK and beyond. Jay is a chef, author and food consultant. He has grown up surrounded by produce and spices through his father’s exotic fruit and vegetable business igniting a passion for food; this was further enhanced when his parents opened a restaurant where he developed his love of cooking and learnt the skills of the trade from the heart of the kitchen.

In 2013, Jay founded Sutra Kitchen, central London’s first meat free cooking school, located in Carnaby St. In the same year he wrote his debut cookbook ‘Share’, a unique collection of global recipes. In 2016, he left the UK to work and train in South Korea and East Asia. His time there increased his expertise in East Asian food leading to the launch of his pop up brand Dynasty. Since returning to London he has worked with the Korean and Japanese Embassies, prominent chefs and food brands as well as hosted a series of popular and acclaimed supper clubs across London, UK and Asia. Dynasty and Jay were featured on BBC2's new restaurant show, My Million Pound Menu which is now available on Netflix worldwide with a successful outcome. Jay has also made appearances on TV and radio as well as hosted and cooked at food shows such as Natural Organic Show. In addition, he has judged the BOOM and Quality Food Awards and chaired panels at trade shows in the UK.

His first restaurant JAE, is due to open in London later this year. JAE will feature an innovative changing menu, with a focus on British produce and drawing on Jay’s heritages and East Asia for influence.
