Olia Hercules was born in Ukraine, raised in Cyprus and has been living in the UK for the past fifteen years. She changed her career as a film reporter at the age of 28 because of her insatiable lust for cooking. She has not once regretted making such a drastic change in her life.
In 2015 she has been named Observer Rising Star and her debut cookbook Mamushka has won the Fortnum & Mason Award in 2016; the book has been published in 8 countries. Her second cookbook Kaukasis: A Journey Through Georgia, Azerbaijan and beyond is out in the US now.
