Leandro Carreira



Born and raised in Leiria in Portugal, Leandro Carreira first started working in restaurants in Lisbon before travelling around Europe and the Middle East. He cut his teeth at Andoni Luis Aduriz’s famed Mugaritz, before coming to London and working at Nuno Mendes’ Viajante as Head Chef, and later at Lyle’s and Koya.

A year-long residency at Climpson’s Arch in Hackney’s London Fields in 2016 saw Leandro take a break from fine-dining, where he showcased the ingredients and traditions of regional Portugal through a new lens. Londrino, the Portuguese word for Londoner, is a culmination of these culinary influences and Leandro’s style of cooking, described last year by Amol Rajan as a ‘Portuguese orchestra melding so many different chords into a just-so harmony.’
